Ween was formed in 1984 in Pennsylvania when Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo met in an eighth grade typing class. Eventually the pair became known as Gene and Dean Ween. Ween collected a large underground fanbase all the while being generally unknown in pop music. Their recordings were anarchic and free-spirited. I’m not going to try and label the type of music they play because it’s impossible. I have included some of the easiest songs of theirs to listen to below. The first album I heard from them was Pure Guava which was an instant classic according to the junior college radio station I attended in the early 1990s. then I got Chocolate And Cheese basically for the cover… this album ending up including my 2 favorite Ween songs that you’ll have to search out. Baby Bitch(considered the best break-up song of all time by some) and Buenos Tardes Amigo. Later they released a real try no joke country album that I would love to have on vinyl. I think it was called 12 Golden Country Hits which had cover art just like the old 70s country compilation “hits” albums.
